Lag sia...

*Pouts*
I know lah...
I'm slow for posting the review on 'Corpse Bride' when Singapore has already screened it long ago.
What to do...???
This place's damn slow in screening the latest movies. And it's Sydney, for crying out loud.
Hell, they're gonna screen 'Polar Express' soon. Siao! That was shown in Singapore donkey ages ago.
*Bitch slaps the cinema operators*
他妈的! Show something up to date leh!
Anyway, i'm terribly bored out my wits. That's why you see me blogging. Me bored, me blog.
他妈的!!!
Really boring sia...
Anyway, i'm contemplating getting a broadband in here. Should i or not har??? I really can't stand the speed of the internet connection. I think there's mushrooms growing on me whenever i'm waiting for things to finish downloading. Imagine the stuff i can download with broadband!
*Evil Laughter*
But it is sooooo expensive.
Nevermind, i shall cross my fingers and see what lies ahead for me.
*Prays hard*
AND YOU GUYS!
Don't you gloat over my predicament while you're happily at home; sleeping snugly in your beds; eating the delicacies i can only dream of for now...
I'LL BE BACK...
in 7 months time that is...

Corpse Bride

Went for a movie with my friends from Uni.

Had a shock when we stepped into the theatre.

It was totally empty!

Thinking that we had entered the wrong theatre, we stepped out and checked the theatre number again.

It was the correct theatre!

And you know what time our movie was supposed to start screening?

5.45pm!

And it's a friday as well!

Hmm... Australians seem not to like going to the movies...

Anyway, the 3 of us went back in and had the luxury of choosing our seats out of hundreds there. It was only when the commercials started screening did we see people coming in. And when the movie started, the theatre had a grand total of....

10 person.

10 person in a theatre that seats 100 plus.

Kinda pathetic, don't you think???

Anyway, back to the movie.

I don't think i'd wanna start on giving a short run through of what the movie is about.
I'll just tell you what i think of it.

For me, i was kinda expecting something like 'Nightmare before Christmas'.

Not that i've watched that film before, but just that i like that characters inside. Same case in point for 'Corpse Bride'. I like the way the characters were done up. And the moodiness of the show appeals to me. I'm a 'dark' person if you'd like to know. Haha..

Okok, continue to what i think of that show.

Frankly, I don't think too highly of this film after watching it. Maybe my expections were too high. But the story line seems quite linear. You can tell what is gonna to happen next and what the ending is gonna be like.

Maybe all movies are like that???

Well, as i've said before, i liked the way the characters are designed as well as the overall 'gloomliness' which is quite befitting of the film. That's the only redeeming feature. Otherwise, everything else pretty much isn't much to see at all. There're some parts that are funny too. You can get a few laughs out of it. But nothing much after that. Pretty boring, you can say. And it's for 78 minutes.

Oh, if you like movies where there'll be singing once and then, you can watch it. But i've never like movies that have characters singing and dancing in it. I feel queasy watching shows that have these elements in it. Maybe i'm biased against movies that have these???

Anyway, for my friends, i would advise you not to watch it. Unless your girlfriends ask you to watch that is... Then you have to obey them. Lol.

Maybe you can watch some better shows instead if you're persuasive enough. Something like 'Kong' or whatever. Get the adrenalin rushing. Whoohoo...

Oh, i'm definitely gonna watch 'Kong'. The trailer's darn cool. Hope the movie doesn't disappoint.

Hmm...

You are a shy flirt

You are more inclined to leave anonymous love notes for your crush then go up and ask them out. You prefer to leave the ball in their court and see where it takes you. A lot of people find this style romantic, but sometimes you are going to have to work up the nerve and ask your crush out, because if your crush is shy too, you may both like each other and never know.

The smart people and stupid ignorant ones

Alexander Downer --> Smart person who thinks before he speaks.
Kevin Rudd --> Stupid person who don't think of the consequences. All he wanna do is to garner more votes at the next election by winning sympathy votes with the people.
Reason why i said that?
Do you want people who just want to garner more votes so that they can come into power even though it would mean straining/destroying the relationship that countries have enjoyed?
Or do you want someone who would seek in earnest to solve a problem, keeping in mind the delicate relationship that countries have with each other?

Death Penalty in Singapore

I'm so angry.
The news is on again on Nguyen Tuong Van and his date of hanging.
What is it with the protests on his death sentence?
They proclaim it inhumane and cruel. An UN official also made some remarks. But he got rebuked by the Singapore Government for acing out of line. lol
Singapore's laws state that if you to be caught trafficking more than 15g of heroin, it's off to the gallows for you.
Don't the people understand what laws mean?
Without it? How do we keep the peace and order in place?
That guy so broke the law when he did drug trafficking. He was carrying 396g of heroin, for goodness sake!
No matter how i see, 396/15= 26.4.
That's 26.4 times over the the limit that qualifies you for death automatically!
All the sad stories about how he's being forced to do drug trafficking so as to clear his twin brother's legal debt ain't gonna change the laws at all.
Oh, getting the Queen, Pope or PM John Howard to help ain't gonna do much. It'll just further solidify the determination to hang him. The idea of getting PM John Howard to plead for clemency is good though. But getting the Queen and the Pope to plead for clemency is downright ridiculous.
Nguyen was caught red-handed. That's all there is to it. If there's people to blame, blame it on the people who forced him to do drug trafficking. They're the ones who promised him they'll clear his brother's debt if he were to bring in the drugs.
Oh, the drug addicts and those into casual drug use. You can blame them as well. It's their insatiable appetite for drugs that makes people wanna bring in drugs to sell it to them.
Next time, if you see someone taking drugs in the street, you can blame that person for causing Nguyen's death. It's because of these drug abusers, people like Nguyen are in such predicament. It's a endless cycle.
Anyway, back to the reason why so many people are condemning the death penalty that Singapore has in place. What is wrong with that system? Can't anyone see it is a form of deterrance?
In the world today, isn't prevention better than cure?
Take for example; the punishment for killing of someone with intent is death by hanging. With such a law in place, wouldn't you think twice about killing people? If you'd still commit that act, i'd say you're obviously someone who's prepared to face the punishment.
To further elaborate, what kept you from killing the person that you hated the most? The rationale of morality, or the rationale of the punishment that would follow if you kill someone? I'd bet that it is the law which keeps you in place most of the time.
Without laws to govern society, how would society progress? I don't think you'll wanna be in a place where rampant killings and lootings take place right? Same case in point, in criminalising drug trafficking and making it punishable by death, wouldn't it make people think twice? Abuse and addiction of drugs is a social ill and must be stopped at all costs, in my opinion.
Look at the lives of the people that were destroyed by drugs.
If there is a way to stem the inflow of drugs into a country; and it is deterrance throught the form of mandatory death sentence, why not impose it?
Others may think, why not just impose a longer jail term instead of a death sentence?
But what do you think would be more effective in sending out the message that drug related offences are very serious crimes and ought to be stopped?
Some people wouldn't care that much about spending some time in prison for drug related offences when they get caught. After all, they'll be getting out in a couple of years, with a parole to boot.
But put in capital punishment in the equation and people will definitely start have second thoughts about it.
Look at the amount of people from Australia caught for drug-related offences in other countries. Are they too ignorant about the laws that govern other countries?
Or do they have the belief that nothing would happen to them when they're caught. No matter how serious the crime is?
It is the naiveness/ignorance of people that often paves the road to disaster.
Maybe people should start looking at the death sentence of Nguyen as a lesson learnt that drug-related offences are serious crimes that they should never fool around with.
